Brake inspections are recommended approximately every 7,500 miles. Actual brake wear varies based on driving habits, road conditions and vehicle use. If you hear grinding, squealing, chirping or other unusual brake noises, or notice brake pedal pulsation, schedule a brake inspection as soon as possible.

Normal brake maintenance may include repairing or replacing several braking components over time. These commonly include:

  • Brake pads
  • Brake rotors
  • Brake calipers
  • Brake shoes
  • Brake hoses

Each part wears at a different rate depending on vehicle usage and driving conditions.

No. Rotor replacement or resurfacing is not always required during a brake pad replacement. If the brake rotors remain at least 1 mm thicker than the minimum discard specification and there are no symptoms such as steering wheel vibration or brake pedal pulsation during braking, the existing rotors may continue to be used.
